Finding a community service project that is successful ‘virtually’ and engages a team is really hard. That’s why Howard Tech is so glad to jump in on the “Bring Cheer in the New Year” campaign being spearheaded by Leadership Howard County. We started some of our activity fun #LHCCardsofCheer but will finish it up next month.
As you can imagine, community residents at assisted/independent living or nursing homes are feeling isolated during this challenging time.
Our HTA team will write notes, cards, draw pictures, or decorate ‘positive plates’ and placemats specifically for residents at Lorien Elkridge. Leadership Howard County kicked off the community service on MLK Day culminating on Feb 14th.
They coordinated with the Office on Aging to compile a list of local assisted living communities, nursing homes, and care facilities.
We stocked a kitchen table with a variety of markers, note cards, paper, stickers, blank placemats and paper plates. The paper plates can be decorated with a ‘positive message’ or fun drawing to be hung with a string on a door or in a room. HTA is encouraging team members to take supplies home and do with their families or spend a few minutes writing some cards at lunch or on a break.
We are eager to see all the creativity and kindness our team members will share and show to our community!
