New Features of Microsoft Teams

Last month, Microsoft rolled out several new Office 365 updates for all devices. There was quite a bit of buzz around Microsoft Teams and the latest features makes it even easier to collaborate. Learn more here.

Microsoft Teams Updates

If you are using Microsoft Teams, there are several new features that will help you find apps, personalize your workspace, and simplifies taking actions. If you aren’t using Team but work in Slack, you may want to check out the Slack-like features that Teams offers. The way it interacts with the other Office 365 apps may entice you to give it a try.

Introducing Microsoft’s App Store: With the Microsoft Store, you can search for apps that you need to include in your workspace. Some organizations may limit which apps are available to users, something set by your account admin, you can search for apps by name, category, or integration type.

Your Personal Space: Without having to do anything, your “personal space” will automatically populate with commonly-used apps and recently opened files.

Command Box: If you have ever wanted to search across an entire app or service, you know how important it is to have a search bar. With Command Box you can quickly search and interact with apps, perform tasks, and navigate through Teams, including searching people, messages, files and apps.

Who? : You can also search across Teams for your colleagues by name or topic.

Apple-Friendly Features

Microsoft has done a glorious thing. They have made it easier for Apple users to work with Microsoft tools.

AutoSave for Macs: AutoSave is now available in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on Mac for Office 365 subscribers who store their documents in OneDrive and SharePoint. All changes, yours or others, are now automatically stored in the cloud, so no need to worry about hitting the Save button again. You can also view and restore content from earlier versions of the document at any time.

Co-authoring Across All Devices: No matter what you work on, a Mac, PC, iPhone, Android, you can share and collaborate on a document. Co-authoring is already available on the Office desktop applications for Windows, Office for Android, and Office Online.

Drag and Drop: Now you can drag and drop items on your iPhone and iPad into documents, presentations, and spreadsheets from other Office apps or OneDrive.

Access OneDrive Files from Other iOS Apps: OneDrive for iOS now natively supports the new iOS 11 Files app.  iPhone and iPad users can upload, access, edit, and save content to OneDrive or SharePoint from any iOS app that supports File app integration.

 Other Updates

Post Announcements to Groups with the Yammer Mobile App: In addition to being able to post company-wide announcements, you can now limit the audience to groups.

New Teaching and Learning Tools: Microsoft introduced many new education tools for Office’s Immersive Reader, including built-in dictation across Office 365 and the expansion of Learning Tools to Mac and iPhone. OneNote’s Class Notebook is also getting support for two of the most popular school information systems.
