Monthly HTA Team “Meal” & Update

In keeping with our monthly team ‘meal’ and meeting, Howard Tech met in person for a July breakfast. It seems like we now count things in relation to COVID, thus, this was our ‘second’ team meal since the pandemic started in March. We were once again lucky with the weather to meet outside! We scheduled a morning breakfast meal instead of a mid-day lunch due to the July heat and humidity. Similar to June, we all met in the shade of parking lot trees outside our building. Team members brought their own chair and enjoyed a catered breakfast of individual sandwiches and juices. There is something to be said seeing each other face-to-face (or ‘mask-to-mask’) rather than by phone, text, email, or virtual meeting.

After some casual conversations and catching up, a team member shares ‘5 things about themselves’. This month we got to know more about our newest team member, Jamie. Since it is a rare time the team is all together, Ananta and the leadership team also provide company updates. One of the hot topics was ramping up our employee time in the office and going to onsite client visits. While HTA proved we can successfully provide most client support services on a remote basis, it’s clear HTA team members get energy and motivation from the synergy between each other.

So, later in July we expanded our return to work efforts with recommended CDC and Maryland safety protocols in place. Team members were encouraged to schedule two ‘in office’ work days – in August the goal is to move it to three days. A small number of team members are already in the HTA office 3-5 days. Tina, our Director of Operations, organized the master office schedule to ensure team member desks are distantly spaced or alternate actual in-office days if necessary. Team members are required to check their temperature and wear masks in the office at all times, unless they are working independently at their desk. Signs for social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing, and contactless deliveries help remind everyone of the important safety protocols.

Procedures for client onsite visits were finalized and shared. Prior to an onsite, we are asking clients to complete a form regarding any COVID health issues in the environment. This is to ensure the safety of our HTA employees and our clients. One of the most important things about being part of the HTA team is that everyone knows their health and safety is reliant on each other’s.

Ending our team breakfast, was the reading of Team Awesome notes! These are brief shout outs from team members to team members for doing good deeds. It’s a very simple but effective way to show and share kindness with people we work with everyday. Everyone enjoys a pat on the back from someone else.
