HTA Employee Announcements: January 2018

Happy New Year! We are thrilled to have some new folks in the office.

Welcome, Tina!

Tina Orlandi joined us this month as our new Office Manager. She has a strong background in finance and HR. Although Tina is originally from Ohio and has lived in North Carolina, she is well acquainted with Maryland. For the last 20 years she has lived in Howard County. Tina loves technology, specifically learning new ways to communicate, share ideas and data. Her proudest accomplishment is being self-sufficient and raising her daughter to be independent.

Tina enjoys gardening, yoga, supporting local farmer’s markets, and relaxing at the beach. She also enjoys walking with her dog, a rescued flat-coated retriever, Luna. Tina also has two rescue cats, Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Her favorite quote: “What one has he ultimately loses. What one has given he keeps. Thus he is very rich indeed” ~Lao Tzu, from “The Way of Change”

Welcome, John (Lemonds)!

John joins Howard Tech as a Service Engineer. He is really looking forward to joining the “great team that [we] have in place and [our] focus on the customer and not just the bottom line.” John has two children, enjoys canoeing, hiking, playing drums and recording in his studio at home. He is a fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers (that’s the University of Nebraska-Lincoln football team).

John has a cat, Jesse the Body, named after the American wrestler, Jesse Ventura. His favorite TV show is The IT Crowd. A gadget that makes his life easier is an IP Calculator. One survival technique he wishes he had is how to build a raft in case he ever finds himself stranded on a deserted island.

John’s favorite quote is: “Do or do not, there is no try.” ~Yoda

Welcome, Chris!

Chris joins us from Education Affiliates, where he had many years of experience wearing many different hats. This includes being responsible for the networks and users at their corporate office and call center, and 14 remote locations. As Technical Account Manager, Chris is excited to meet and work with customers on their technology needs. To him, “there’s no greater satisfaction than having a smiling customer using a reliable computer network.”

His son recently graduated from the University of South Carolina with a chemistry degree. Outside of work, Chris and his wife enjoy cycling and hiking along the NCR Trail. He also has a small photography business that he started when his son was playing soccer and would take his pictures. His family have a dog, Serge, who was rescued from an abandoned house one cold February night 3 years ago.

His favorite quote: “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” ~Albert Einstein

Farewell, Jessica!

While it is not a complete “goodbye,” Jessica will be leaving Howard Tech at the end of the month to spend more time with her family. Jessica has been part of the HTA Team for nearly 4 years and while it’s sad to see her leave, we are happy for her and her family for this next chapter of their life. She will always be a member of the HTA Family and will work with us on various projects in the future. Best of luck to you Jessica and Family!!!
