Meet Dan: Our Political Comedian

Dan joined the Howard Tech service team in the Spring of 2018. His zeal, enthusiasm, and attentiveness towards technology, music and helping others was apparent from day one. With a background in CAD programming, audio engineering, and IT management, he adds so much to our dynamic team. We are very grateful to have him on our team!

The most exciting part of my job is:

Coming from a production industry I was accustomed to an environment steeped in repetition. At Howard Tech, that is not the case. Every day presents new challenges, new opportunities to learn, and the distinct need to become a better and more proficient engineer. So, I would say the obligation to grow while being challenged, is also a source of excitement.

Some of my most proudest accomplishments include:

First, marrying my wife. Second, when my wife and I purchased our home 2 years ago, that was a big accomplishment for me. Another accomplishment I’m proud of has to do with my moonlighting job, an Audio Engineer. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of the best and most talented musicians in Maryland and beyond.

My favorite…

Book when I was young was The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Nowadays, I read mostly non-fiction political writings. My favorite TV show is without a doubt Bob’s Burgers. As a musician myself it is hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to I’d choose Muse. My favorite go-to-spot when we go out to eat is The Pour House on Kent Island.

I am very passionate about…

Politics and spend much of my time reading about the goings on and political events of the day. I would say getting others involved in politics and more importantly engaged in local politics, including voting is something I care deeply about.

One place I wish I could visit…

Space. There are very few humans who have ever left the surly bonds of our home planet and I want to be counted among them. I plan to one day take a commercial flight to space, should I be able to afford it.

One gadget I could not live without is…

Probably a television.

Three things on my desk:

Coffee mug. Reading glasses, which I rarely use because I am stubborn. Random scraps of paper with notes.

Three people who inspire me:

My Mom. She taught me where you come from doesn’t ever dictate where you can end up.

My Stepfather. He taught me the value of hard work and loving your neighbor.

My good friend Dennis. He taught me family can be who you choose and no one is a lost cause.

Something that not many people know about me…

Is I have a real passion for comedy and I used to do stand up on a regular basis. Unfortunately, I don’t have as much opportunity more recently though.

One survival technique I wish I had is…

Being able to identify animals by their tracks.
