Community Outreach: May 2018

It’s been a busy few months for the Howard Tech Team in and outside the office! Several members of our team support the community through a variety of ways – events, fundraising, volunteering, and more!

Walk MS: Columbia, MD

Last month, Jason and his girlfriend, Susie, walked at Howard Community College to help team up with friends, loved ones and co-workers to change the world for everyone affected by MS. Walk MS Columbia raised nearly $90,000 and Susie’s team came in 2nd place as top fundraiser.

Adventures For the Cure’s Everesting Challenge

Over Mother’s Day Weekend, Seth joined Adventures For the Cure on their 2nd annual Everesting Challenge. For those not familiar, here is a brief synopsis. Thirty-eight cyclists set off just after midnight on Saturday, May 12th to climb the height of Mt. Everest (29k + ft) on Ilchester Hill in Ellicott City. Howard Tech’s Seth completed it in 18 hrs 32 min. AFC raised $7,600 to support Kupenda for the Children, FOD Family Support Group, and Maryland Interscholastic Cycling League.

Baltimore Herb Festival

Our Project Team Lead, Mike Blair, is committed to his community. He serves on the Baltimore Heritage Society to reinvigorate Southwest Baltimore. The Baltimore Herb Festival is held annually at Leakin Park with the area’s most abundant plant-lovers and herb-enthusiasts. You can purchase plants & herbs, dried and infused cooking herbs, vinegarettes, oils, and lots of beautiful handmade art. It’s held Saturday of Memorial Day weekend and features food trucks, live music, steam train rides, a petting zoo, live music, and more!
